7 days into the New Year and I’m honestly uplifted by the bolstering echoes of renewed hope in the air. Hopes for new attitudes, habits and thought patterns. We’re doing rounds of positivity, of commitment and of hunger for life. Another year adding onto our years, a year to be filled with a broadened understanding to life, being present and loving what each day has to offer. My wish for the year ahead is that we all open our hearts to growth, possibility and love.

Vision and Planning.
I’m sure Vision boards and Goal Setting have been buzzwords for the past couple of weeks, and possibly overwhelming if you haven’t sat down to create yours, or find it hard to actually start. Fret not, I’m here to help. Living aimlessly creates room for doubt and a lost sense of accomplishment. An inability to define what you are living for, or working toward it becomes really easy for doubt, comparison and frustration to make their way into your life. Surely that isn’t what we want to bring into the new year, there are pockets of possibility in each day that lies ahead, and it is solely up to us to consistently choose to look to experience the fullness of each day.

Committing yourself to the unknown may be the issue, the uncertainty of whether what you yearn for is attainable could be crippling, the fact that it demands a level of accountability to your self may be what’s holding you back. Let’s debunk those hidden fears and step into the year a little more hopeful and try something new, lets hold on to possibility, and a dash of faith in our ability to get things done.

Planning and setting goals becomes a less overwhelming task when you identify the key areas that make up a holistically balanced life. Being able to identify the key areas in your life that keep you going should be the start of your planning and goal setting task, it will help you visualize and guide you on what is needed of you. Look out for the things that reinforce balance and create to a realistic view of being all rounded person. Some goals will require more from you, more time, more work and for some seasons certain goals will have to take the back burner, and that is totally okay. You’ll be well aware of how you need to show up in your daily life to reach the goals you want.

Identify the areas of your life that need working on.

Write them down and assess what requires more of you, and how you can intentionally show up to fulfil those areas.

Below is a list of key areas I use.
-Personal development
-Physical and Health
-Family and your inner circle
-Financial and Cash Flow
-Recreational, hobbies and vacations
-Spiritual and personal growth
-Work and Volunteer involvement

Remember to take your time, your goals and needs are specific to you. Listen to your heart and hear what this season of hope yearns for! Different areas will require different things from you, for example, strengthening family bonds could mean making at least one phone call to a loved one, or maintaining good health could mean going to the gym for one and the other being intentionally taking breaks from work. So, listen to your heart and be as honest as you can with yourself. And, it’s okay not to hit the mark all the time, you’re only human.

Grab a pen, a notebook and a nice chilled ice tea and start planning.
Wishing you a lovely year ahead and may you never miss the significance of a good day!
